We have experienced profound changes to our health regimes, social dynamics, workforces, work practices, travel, economic norms and processes. These changes have negatively impacted many businesses and organisations. Those who have thrived have been able to adapt intelligently and enthusiastically to serve their customers and clients in the new environment.
It’s more important than ever, therefore, that the members of our Chamber proactively and aggressively support one another. This is the very purpose for which the Chamber was formed: To create robust support, dynamic opportunities and partnerships, to help you to achieve your goals and dreams, and to build our businesses and community working together – integral and integrated parts of one another.
It is this philosophy that will continue to drive the activities and purpose of the Chamber over the coming months and year. As I said at a recent Chamber event, “It’s time to stop pussyfooting around!” Get involved!
With this in mind, I have two important announcements regarding Chamber memberships:
1. Chamber Membership Extensions
Many members will have noticed that we have not requested renewal fees for your annual membership these past few months. We know the challenges of doing business and attending events thus far in 2020 due to COVID-19, therefore, for members current at March 2020 membership has been extended FREE through to the end of January 2021. For those members who joined or renewed at the end of 2019 or in early 2020, I am adding a further free extension through to June 30, 2021.
2. FREE New Memberships to last until end January 2021
In the same manner, we will offer free new memberships to any size of organisation commencing now – with that membership to last through the end of January 2021. The purpose of free membership is to draw many more businesses and organisations into our umbrella to help us all to create more opportunities and fruitful relationships.
We hope you will commit to support as many events and activities as possible, in order to both contribute and gain the maximum benefit – whether or not it is specifically financial – out of your membership.
[Please note: Not all lapsed or prospective members are eligible for membership. We require that members (old and new) uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct. We also assess potential members’ “agenda”, reputation and intent in joining the Chamber. We assess this based on research, feedback, referral sources and observation. Any organisation or individual not meeting our standards will be disallowed or deregistered and are not permitted to be involved in Chamber activities. All such decisions are final. No correspondence, refunds or partial reimbursements of any kind will be entered into.]
In early 2021, we will be announcing a new membership fee structure. Although our membership fees are already a very small investment for any going concern, we will be setting new fees to attract as many committed members as possible, while still having a viable, thriving Chamber. Fees revenue typically only covers a fraction of the costs of the Chamber’s activities; were I to even partially charge the many hours and efforts devoted by myself and others on a salary basis, the Chamber could simply afford nothing. If you are able to make a goodwill donation to the Chamber, we appreciate your support; sponsorship opportunities are also available by enquiry.
It’s what you give, not what you seek to just gain, that yields the best results for all.
If you would like to join the Chamber with a free membership now, please visit our site at www.chamberofcommerceandcommunity.com and click on ‘Join Us’ to register your details. On review, you will be notified if approved for registration. If you are a returning (lapsed) member, please register through the same process.
Use this FREE membership offer to invite and refer as many quality professionals and organisations as possible to our Chamber to help everyone thrive. The more engaged members we have, the more opportunities there will be for everyone.
The pressing demands of our time demand that we make changes to continue to lift our business and community as a whole. Despite the thankful lack of COVID-19 deaths in our State and the relaxation of restrictions, we will face continued challenges through the months and year ahead. There are, however, many opportunities that can be leveraged that I have been advocating for quite some time. There are opportunities waiting for all of us right now.
We can’t wait. We can’t dither. And we can’t do it alone.
I invite you to recommit and wholeheartedly support and engage in the network and region through our Chamber – because it’s more important than ever.
